Our shelter and rescue passion
When Phil and I moved to North Georgia in 2018, we began volunteering at local animal shelters/rescues. We help many rescues with walking, photographing, training, educating staff and adopters, helping birth puppies, transporting, fostering (Melanie is a foster fail), and helping with meet-and-greets. We love helping dogs and cats in shelters.
Dogs in shelters are individuals with unique personality traits. They enter shelters due to abandonment, surrender by families unable to care for them, neglect by trusted humans, or birth to a mother in similar circumstances. They deserve a second chance. The shelter environment is inherently difficult on dogs, so every effort must be made to care for their mental and physical health while enthusiastically marketing for their new homes. This effort began my career change into dog training.
I'm passionately committed to empowering these incredible dogs to feel safe and thrive. I've gained invaluable behavioral insights from dogs in shelters, surpassing any formal program. They're the ultimate teachers, guiding me every step of the way. Every week, I proudly donate my time to help these amazing dogs feel safe and loved. This is my heart's purpose.
